About the Catholic Wedding Mass Booklet + Samples

One of the things that stumped us was doing up a wedding mass booklet for our wedding.

It was one of the things that was most worrying because of ignorance and we did not know where to start. However, friendly advice led us to borrowing the wedding mass booklets from those who have been there and done that. The main idea is to get the format right.

The next step is to select your readings. This you can get from a variety of catholic sources online. Or best of all, go and ask the priest marrying you both. If you are geared up all out preparing for your wedding, you would most likely got your readings in mind already.

Select your songs next!

Lastly, consult your priest to make sure the format and all is in order and in line with the liturgy.

I have added our wedding booklet for reference. If any of you readers are willing to add on to this list for other couple's benefits, do send it to me to upload it here. :)

In summary:

  1. Get samples
  2. Select your readings
  3. Choose your songs
  4. Run it by the priest

Visiting Fr JJ in IHM - Church booking

Post dating this entry.

I visited Fr JJ in IHM way back in October I think. It was to ask some questions with regards to booking our church wedding. At that time, I was a still a little bit sua ku and did not know what to do with regards to booking the church. The church form was generally clear enough but we wanted to ask how we can get another priest and whether it is possible to hold a wedding on a Sunday too. Then, we were still looking for 10Oct10. ;p

The trouble we had was to settle the date for the wedding. Issues arose where:

  1. Sunday wedding?
  2. Sunday service in lieu of wedding?
  3. Signing of marriage cert in church or do we ROM first?
  4. ROM and Wedding dates are good dates for the chinese calendar?
It does seem very straight forward but with all the 4 confounding each other, it was quite hard to come to a decision as one depends on the other.

Fr JJ advised that we can always ROM first on a good date. For the church wedding, we can hold it separate if it is not a "good date" i.e. 10Oct10.

After several weeks of consideration, we decided to hold our ROM on 24Sep10, Fri, and our wedding on the 30Oct10, Sat.

Roving Caricature Artists for Wedding Entertainment?

. Tuesday, September 29, 2009

I recently attended a company function at a pub and they had roving caricature artists to entertain the guests. I'd thought it made an interesting entertainment item for bored people (oh we do have lots of those people at the usual weddings).

Chancing the opportunity that we might hire someone like them for our wedding dinner for entertainment, I promptly asked for their names and contact - Wilson Lee (drawing as below) and William Lee (cutter as on left). Don't ask me whether they are brothers or not though. I've their contacts with me but am not publishing them here for their privacy.

Might drop them a call if we are interested at a later stage.

Deciding on the Date

As you can see, we do have a problem in picking a date for the marriage.

Although we are Catholics by faith, we have been taught to respect our parents and our family elders, and that includes their beliefs and religion too. The elders have indicated preferences but say they leave it up to us to decide on the dates. However, Adeline and I have decided to accommodate as much (after discussions, that is) to see how we can fit in the dates, time, theme and place of the wedding.

At this current junction, it seems that we have only 4 good “weekend days” in Q4 2009, of which 3 are Fridays and 1 is a Sunday.

That particular Sunday (101010) is a date in which I had earlier decided (and told to many of my friends during Project 999) that it would be a date that I would least consider due to the popularity of the date. And Sundays are not usually days to hold weddings as they are Sabbath. (Do correct me if I am wrong).
I have proposed to Adeline that we can see a priest and ask around for opinions on  101010. Would be perfect if we could get that date but then we might be a little late.

On that note, the wedding date to be on 101010 does not mean that the wedding dinner or lunch will be the same date. We are contemplating to have the meal on a separate weekend after the wedding.
Would be less shag too, for us and for all our dear family and friends attending.
Do let us know your kind views.
